-STOP PRESS-Ubuntu Water Foundation Film Festival
16 October 2009
Ubuntu Water Foundation launches The Ubuntu Water Foundation Film Festival, which runs from 16-29 October and is a celebration of Water in a build up to Cape Town's upcoming Green Week and beyond.
UBUNTU WATER FILM FESTIVAL
is to be screened at Labia Theatre and Cape Town Medi-Spa on Kloof Street from
16-29 October. This festival examines both energetic and spiritual
aspects of water simultaneously exploring what experts label the most
important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century - The
World Water Crisis.
Collectively these movies build a case
against the growing privatization of the world's dwindling fresh water
supply with an unflinching focus on politics, pollution, human rights,
and the emergence of a domineering world water cartel, while still
reminding us that the structure of water begins at home in our hearts
and minds. Interviews with scientists and activists intelligently
reveal the rapidly building crisis, at both the global and human scale,
and the film introduces many of the governmental and corporate culprits
behind the water grab, while begging the question ‘CAN ANYONE REALLY OWN WATER?’
